Business and Politics: Power in a Global World

This seminar explores how business actors exercise political power in a globalized world. We examine the role of public authority in regulating firms, the formation of business interests, and the mechanisms through which corporations shape policy outcomes. Topics include corporate political risk, corporate political strategies in developing and developed contexts, and transnational private governance. Using comparative and international perspectives, the course analyzes how political institutions and market structures interact to shape business-government relations. The course is research-oriented and is particularly suitable for students interested in developing independent research projects or pursuing academic work.
