Politics and Infrastructure Development in Africa

This course explores the location of largescale infrastructure development in contemporary African politics and uses largescale infrastructure development as a prism through which to explore major dynamics and processes in contemporary African politics. Sub-topics explored will include the intersection of infrastructure development and democratic politics; infrastructure development and the rule of law; infrastructure and growing inequalities; infrastructure development and state-society relations; state capacity, political trust and infrastructure development; and infrastructure development, regional integration and big power competition in Africa.
