The grade engine
Cambridge AS is worth exactly 50% of the marks in the full A Level. That single rule tells you precisely what the second year has to deliver — so here is the arithmetic, run backwards.

The carry-forward clock
AS marks count towards an A Level only within 13 months of the sitting, and can be carried forward twice at most. Students lose whole years to this rule without ever having heard it.
